Right to Murder A Right to Murder Abortion is the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy, most often performed during the first 28 weeks of pregnancy. Should abortion be an option for women? This is one of the most controversial topic in our country. Your views might depend on your background, religion, or your political views either way, you have an opinion. Both political parties, Democratic and Republican have distinctive views and opinions towards abortion. The red side, also known as the Republicans believe that abortion is considered murder and every fetus should have the right to live. Women are portrayed as killers for removing a human life. On the other hand the Blue side, Democrats claim that abortion is a part of women's fundamental rights to protect their lives and have full control over their body. Democrat’s view are not based on religion but rather based on current ideals or modernization. These two parties have completely different opinions with their beliefs as evidence which leads to many bias articles to be written in order to increase popularity and support towards their opinion towards a specific topic, like abortion. Republicans make the Democrats seem ridiculous and crazy to remove a life just like that. Democrats compose Republicans to seem extreme and totalitarian by limiting women rights. Many articles about abortion have bias comments and evidence that would seem quite believable which can lead to misinterpretation towards abortion. Bias articles make it difficult for women to make a decision whether or not abortion can be an option for their current situation. Democrats solution to social and human ideas are based on community and social responsibility. Democrats are perceived to be more open minded to new ways and ideas. Democrats are liberals that believe abortion should be an option for women. “My body, my rights”, is the most common slogan in order to support Democrats in making abortion legal. Throughout my research on “Blue Feed” I found a lot of bias articles that claim Republicans are trying to limit women rights. On a website called "The Root" has posted an article that seems to be written with bias. Michael Harriot wrote "Congressman Tells a Black Anti-Abortion-Rights Activists, 'You're Ignorant' ". Harriot explains a congressional subcommittee about the HeartBeat Protection Act between Star Parker, founder of the Center for Urban Renewal, and a female black republican that is anti-abortion rights, to state their views about the HeartBeat Protection Act. Exposing his views by adding a side comment on the "pro-life" name. As Harriot explains the liberals view towards abortion he states, "No, I will not use the GOP marketing phrase “pro-life.” Who’s not for people living?" Harriot added commentary that defines his beliefs towards abortion. Harriot claims that the title that conservatives use to define themselves, “pro-life” is misleading towards the public. Many could interpret “pro-life” campaign that it is about saving lives, when it’s really about the right to have an abortion. Harriot made his article unreliable source because the reader has now assumed that he is a Democrat, which makes his evidence bias. Another source on “Blue Feed” makes a stronger liberal stance about their opinion towards abortion. On LifeNews an article named "Doctor Saves 213 Babies After the Abortion Has Already Started, Wait Until You See How" written by Micaiah Bilger. This article begins by stating that there is a pill that can rewind the process for abortion saving many women and children from making a mistake, it continues to state all the benefits of this pill but doesn't state any of the side effects. Bilger continues "birth defects after the treatment are rare", but doesn't define any side effects towards the mother for taking two pills that cancel each other out. According to this article, the pill has saved many babies and claim that it's rare for the baby to be born with birth defects. The pill can stop the process of abortion without having any side effects toward the mother and the child. This is a strong statement about being able to change your mind about aborting. Having a baby, in general can cause a lot of problems for the baby and the mother. In this article Bilger doesn’t mention bad side effects of taking the pill to undo abortion in order to increase desirability or an "easy fix". Forgetting mention the aftermath that a pill can cause it simply making this article inaccurate. No medicine or science can be fail proof, and 100% safe especially a pregnancy. Articles being written with only telling half the truth can lead to complications once factional evidence is uncovered. Providing information that is not true can lead to wrong decision and confusion towards a topic. Contradictory, The conservative views seem to be very strong, abortion is murder. Conservative bias articles attempt to convince the public that a fetus or embryo in the mother’s womb has rights and should be taken accounted for. Conservative Tribune has described a situation about Planned Parenthood posting on Twitter a statistic encouraging colored women to have abortion rather than having the baby. An article was written to describe the situation called “ ‘Planned Parenthood Encourages’ Black Women in America to Consider Abortion" written by John Falkenberg Parenthood tweeted saying that it's safer for black women to have an abortion which is a really strong statement to post. Falkenberg reveals his disagreement towards this post by saying "There is no excuse for this. There’s nothing that could ever be said that would make this OK." This tweet has lead many black women believe that it is better to have abortion that to give birth. This caused chaos towards the black community and Parenthood. The posting of this tweet made conservatives seem bias towards only saving white babies rather than colored babies. This post was not just not a comment but a racial remark for women of color to choose abortion in order to not risk their lives. Bias can appear not only in articles but also in social media. Bias comments can be found in even the most trustful source, learning to differentiate the factual evidence and opinion can be critical especially when trying to form an opinion towards an issue. On ThinkProcess, Lindsay Gibbs writes an article named "Wisconsin GOP lawmaker says women should be forced to give birth to grow the labor force". This article describes the Wisconsin State Assembly coming together to vote on a bill that would prevent health insurance plans for state employees from covering abortions, unless the cause was because of rape, incest, or to save the mother’s life. Gibbs begins by clarifying that Scott Allen is a Republican and his comment that abortion is hurting the economy and the workforce because of the decline of population. Then explains that party lines aren't so clear anymore on the abortion topic but Gibbs reveals that "party lines, it’s worth noting that the Wisconsin state assembly maps are considered to be the result of some of the most aggressive partisan gerrymandering" and that the Supreme Court is investigating them. This increased suspicion between the Wisconsin parties lead her article may be biased by making Wisconsin seem extreme and their evidence seem very dramatic. Differently, unbiased articles do exists and are very informative about the recent acts that are taken towards the subject of abortion. In office, Donald Trump is a Republican and most of the House is filled with Republicans which can make it easy for them to agree on an issue, for they have the same ideals and views. For an example, there is an article written by Mike DeBonis and Jenna Johnson called “With Trump’s backing, House approves ban on abortion after 20 weeks of pregnancy” that reported the decision made about a bill, Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act. This bill allows to have an abortion after 20 weeks if it endangers the mother’s life or in a case of rape or incest, in order for the baby to have the best chance of survival after departing from its mother. This article is unbiased for it states the views of both sides and their response towards the passing of the bill, by saying “the bill, known as the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, is not expected to emerge from the Senate, where most Democrats and a handful of moderate Republicans can block its consideration. But anti-abortion activists are calling President Trump’s endorsement of the bill a significant advance for their movement.” DeBonis and Johnson states the views of the Democrats and Republican but also include the prediction that the bill maynot pass to the Senate like it hasn’t for past three times. Although they do add that it is still unsure for the Senate “this time, with a supportive Republican in the White House”, could affect the bill of passing or not. It clearly states the facts with the pros and cons of the bill according the current president, House and Senate. In a more closer look of the abortion rights can affect someone’s life, Manny Fernandez wrote “ Undocumented Teenager Obtains Abortion after Court Victory” explaining the process of an abortion case had to go through and the ruling of the case. Fernandez included both the views of the court, lawyers, and the teenager. Fernandez did not include his opinion or views or emphasized neither side, simply reported the incidents of the case and both side commentary and response. Manny Fernandez states the problematic things that made this case so hard to solve, “Justice Department lawyers had argued that by choosing not to return to her home country and voluntarily remaining in custody, “any alleged ‘obstacle’ to Ms. Doe’s ability to obtain an abortion is by her own choice,” and Jane Doe being a minor puts her under the government's custody who are unable to supports or disapprove an abortion. Supreme court allowed Jane Doe to have an abortion because if they forced her to return her home country than her chances of being able to stay in the United States would increase. Fernandez, Bison and Johnson clearly states facts and views of both sides and included the conclusion of the problem without adding any commentary that could of be seen as biased towards any side. Unbiased articles are difficult to find but are most important when trying to find more clarity towards an issue. Abortion should always be an option. I believe men and women are equal and should be treated equally but there are definitely genetic differences. A women can become pregnant without their wanting or planning. Women are in danger of rape, prostitution, or accidentally breaking of a condom. Forcing a woman to go through the process of pregnancy without their consent is cruel. Especially if it was the product of rape, having an abortion can be their only escape to survive, emotionally and physically. Many complications can happen through a pregnancy and after giving birth. It is difficult enough to make a decision like having an abortion itself and the government calling woman “murderers” is not right. We all have the right to live the life how we choose, that may or may not include a child. Making abortions illegal won’t stop women from having them, as we have learned this in the past, it just puts more women at risk of malpractice or infection. Women shouldn’t have to be ashamed of doing what they believe is right for themselves but instead should be supported. Abortion should be an option worldwide and no one but the person itself should have a say in what they can and can’t do to their body. Women, just like men should have the right to pursue happiness and if abortion is the solution for their situation then they should have the choice. I believe making abortion legal is about having the right to choose not to encourage it. Even though, many are convinced it’s murder because of their beliefs, others who don’t share the same belief system should have options. Although, abortion will never be a non contradictory topic with just one solution, unbiased articles are extremely important in order to be well informed before making or completing an opinion towards any issue. Especially towards the topic of abortion which is a very important decision to make because it involves a life or death situation for the child and the mother. Abortion should never be part of a games of who’s right and who’s wrong but rather what's best for the mother and soon to be child. This is a difficult decision that a mother can make which leads them to do research towards the process of abortion but bias articles can confuse their audience in rather or not it is safe, or even an option for their unique situation. Finding reliable sources to get information is very important some ways to differentiate whether a source is bias or not is by looking for any remarks towards the opposite view. Precaution of bias sources is very important when researching a very conflicting topic that can lead opinions to misguide your beliefs towards a topic.
